FBI Investigating Criminal Conduct on Epilepsy Forums

Hackers have attacked forums used by people suffering with epilepsy. The hackers would post in the epilepsy support forums and post links that were masquerading as being helpful. Instead, the links took the users to a site with images designed to cause seizures in people suffering from epilepsy.

The FBI is investigating the case. While no damage was done to the code and no exploits were used to gain access, this may be the first time the Feds have gotten involved in a case of “yelling fire in a crowded theater” online. It will be interesting to see how this develops and what new laws we can expect as a result.
